First of all, unlock and remove the battery.
Remove eight screws securing the bottom case. Pry up and remove the cable.
With the bottom case removed, you can get access to the internal battery, hard drive, CMOS battery, RAM, heat sink and cooling fan.
The ThinkPad T560 comes with 4GB PC3-12800 DDR3L 1600MHz RAM, and the laptop has two RAM slots, so you can add another RAM, it supports up to 32GB RAM.
It has a WWAN slot and provides the antennas.

The laptop comes with an 11.4V, 3460mAh/44Wh Li-polymer battery, Lenovo P/N: 45N1742, 45N1743.
Remove two screws securing the hard drive. You can remove the hard drive module.
The laptop comes with a WD 500GB Hard Drive, and you can replace it with a 2TB HDD.
In my case, I replace it with a SanDisk 256GB 2.5-inch SSD.

I tried two times and it’s a bit fiddly but it works.
Once you pried a slot between cover and unit (worked best with a plectrum in my case) on all sides except the inside of the battery slot, a little bit of wiggling left and right, back and forth and the cover came lose with near no force.

I had a oem 256gb ssd manufactured by Samsung installed by default, so I think they’re swapping parts sometimes.
